Why Summer Is the Best Time to Try Mom & Tot Classes in Bowmanville

Routines shift in summer. School schedules disappear, nap times get shuffled, and the structure you'd built around the rest of the year quietly falls apart. For a lot of new moms, that sounds like a reason to put fitness on hold. We'd argue it's actually the best reason to start.

Mom & Tot at KeepFit HQ runs every Thursday this summer in Bowmanville, and if you've been waiting for a reason to try it, this is it.

What Mom & Tot Actually Is

Mom & Tot is a small-group fitness class designed for moms and their babies. You bring your little one, they hang out nearby, and you move. Really move.

Classes run every Thursday from 12:30 to 1:15 pm at our studio at 42 King St E in downtown Bowmanville. Groups are capped at 10 moms, so you're never just a face in a crowd. You get real coaching and a trainer who knows where you're at from class to class.

The class is designed for moms with one child under two. (Twins are welcome).

Every session is led by a certified trainer with specialized pre and postnatal training. That's not a small thing. It means the class is built around what the postnatal body actually needs, not just a generic workout with a few modifications tacked on.

What Makes This Different

There's a lot of well-meaning postnatal fitness out there. A lot of it underestimates what you're capable of, and a lot of it skips over the stuff that actually matters for this season: core rehabilitation, functional movement, progressive loading, real recovery.

At KeepFit HQ, the programming is designed for where you are right now. Whether you're a few months postpartum or a couple of years in and just now making space for this, the class meets you there. You don't have to explain your situation or hope the trainer has seen it before.

The members who come back week after week will tell you the same thing:

"The workouts have not only helped with my postpartum recovery but also with an improvement in overall strength." — Chelsea K.

"The trainers are knowledgeable, supportive and genuinely invested in your progress, and the community is just as amazing." — Jessica T.

"The structured classes take all the guesswork out. It feels like personal training, but with the bonus of familiar faces and a community that keeps you accountable." — Leanne C.

Why Summer Is the Right Time to Start

Here's the thing about summer. The pressure to have things figured out lifts a little. Schedules are looser, there's more openness to trying something new, and lower-stakes conditions are exactly where real habits form.

In the fall, classes fill up fast. Summer is when you can get a spot, get settled, and actually build some consistency before the busy season hits again.

And if you've been waiting until the "right time" to prioritize your movement, summer is as close as it gets.

Two Ways to Join This Summer

There are two options depending on what your schedule allows.

Summer Series ($154.99) — six Thursdays in a row, starting July 23. This summer only, series members also receive three drop-in passes to try a regular KeepFit HQ class, our adult-only coached classes, for when you can sneak away solo. Limited to 10 spots.

Single Drop-In ($28 per class) — can't commit to the full series right now? Book individual Thursdays as your schedule allows. Drop-ins are available all summer while spots last.

Both options book through the Mom & Tot page — select the option that works for you when registering.

Who This Is For

Mom & Tot at KeepFit HQ is for moms who want to move consistently and feel strong, in a class that makes sense for where they actually are right now. You don't need a fitness background. You don't need to have it figured out.

Babies are welcome. Tired is fine. Relearning your postpartum body is exactly the point.

It's for moms in Bowmanville, Clarington, and the surrounding area who are ready for something structured, coached, and genuinely built for this season of life.

"The mom and tot class is my saviour! The workout is always a blast and I love the challenge. Thursdays are my new favourite day!" — Kristin
